Position: Engineering Manager

Location: Charlotte, NC

CJS Conveyance (CJS) is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to grow our presence in the Charlotte, NC area and to lead water and wastewater conveyance projects throughout the Triad and the state of North Carolina. Experience leading business development, overseeing operations, and providing engineering consulting services will be critical to the success of this role. A successful candidate will be involved in the development and execution of projects that include large diameter gravity sewer, water transmission mains, urban water and sewer replacements, elevated storage tanks, and pumping stations. A successful candidate will also be involved in interactions with clients, regulatory agencies, other consultants, contractors, and the public and should be able to represent CJS comfortably in these interactions.

Typical projects to be performed include preliminary studies and facility sizing, detailed design, regulatory approval, bid phase services, and construction administration. The position will be full-time with flexible hours and comprehensive benefits.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as CJS’s lead representative to develop relationships, build our team, and grow our presence in the Charlotte/Triad region of NC
  • Oversee business operations for our Charlotte area office, including marketing, contract/client management, overseeing staff, and general office management
  • Responsible for recruitment, development, and retention of staff
  • Serve as senior project manager to lead the production of design deliverables
  • Perform preliminary engineering evaluations and prepare technical reports
  • Develop design documents including plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Perform engineering analyses using engineering software and textbook calculations
  • Prepare regulatory permit applications and coordinate with review agencies
  • Prepare opinions of probable construction cost
  • Oversee bid phase services and construction administration
  • Develop innovative solutions based on training and experience

Compensation for this position:

  • The anticipated hiring range for this position is $130K – $150K annually based on experience and qualifications
