Project Type

Project Overview

NC State Parks was recently approved for approximately $40 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to support infrastructure upgrades across the park system. In partnership with Finch & Associates, CJS is delivering water and sewer improvements at seven parks across the state: Hammocks Beach State Park, Jordan Lake State Recreation Area, Falls Lake SRA, William B. Umstead State Park, Kerr Lake SRA, Morrow Mountain State Park, and Mount Mitchell State Park. The team generated inventories of needed repairs, developed improvement plans, and is now executing work to meet ARPA’s construction timeline, with work starting at the end of 2024 and concluding by 2026. Each site presents unique challenges related to climate, geography, operations, and limited existing records, requiring a tailored approach. To stay on schedule, the team has relied on close collaboration with park operators, in-depth review of historical data, diligent database maintenance, and the strategic use of AI tools to streamline data management and document production.
