Project Overview

Raleigh Water identified low-pressure issues within the Town of Zebulon linked to undersized and tuberculated lines. Based on system evaluations, a mix of rehabilitation and replacement was recommended. CJS was engaged via our on-call contract with the City to provide design, permitting, right-of-entry mapping, bidding, and record drawings for the replacements project, as well as design, permitting, easement mapping, bidding, construction administration assistance, and record drawings for the rehabilitation project.

The replacement scope included 2,700 LF of new 6-inch water main to replace deteriorated 2-, 4-, and 6-inch lines. The replacement design also incorporated provisions for temporary water service to support the adjacent rehabilitation effort. The rehabilitation scope included SIPP lining of 8,800 LF of existing 6- to 12-inch water mains with a polymeric liner to improve hydraulic performance while minimizing excavation. This marked Raleigh Water’s first standalone water main lining project and required close coordination with the City’s Project Manager and Operations team, as well as NCDOT and the Town of Zebulon.
